Hardware breaking down is a part of life. And because accidents that lead to data loss happen all the time, you must take steps to protect your data. And more to the point, you need to protect your data by backing it up – you can do that with the powerful, user friendly, and properly good application KeepVault. It securely stores your data so you can restore it in case of an accident and it encrypts the backup to protect it from snooping eyes.

KeepVault works with any Windows edition from Windows XP onward. A simple setup wizard will help you install KeepVault on your Windows PC as quickly as possible. Before you can start using the application, it will go through a “Get Started” process, meaning it will:
- analyze your system to determine your protection status (it will uncover photos, home movies and videos, music, and documents that need to be backed up).
-ask you to enter your login credentials (you can easily set up a free 15-day, 15GB trial plan on the official KeepVault website).
- invite you to choose what you want to protect (protect all files or protect specific file types).
- ask you to pick between Local Protection (backup data locally, to a hard drive or USB key) and Internet protection (back up data to the web); choose the Protection Frequency.

After you go through this initial setup process, you will be presented with the KeepVault interface – as the application backs up your data, you will notice that the black-themed interface features three buttons at the top: Restore, Settings, and History. You will also notice that the interface is divided into two sections: the online backup to the left and the local backup to the right.

There are two KeepVault editions to choose from: KeepVault, recommended for personal or home use, and KeepVault Pro & Business, meant to be used in a corporate environment.

There is much to like about KeepVault: it protects your data in real time, it allows you to back up your data to a variety of locations, it uses powerful encryption algorithms to secure your backups, you can receive notifications via email or text, and more.

Pros

Installing and setting up KeepVault is a fairly simple process. You can back up your data locally and to the cloud. Your data is backed up in real time; after a file is modified, it is automatically backed up. Your backups are encrypted. You can easily restore your data. There are two KeepVault editions to choose from.

Cons

15-day, 15GB trial.
